Mercantile Bank partners with the South African Veterinary Foundation


Mercantile bank, a niche bank with a specific product offering for professionals, have recently partnered with the South African Veterinary Foundation. Mercantile Bank made a R 50 000 donation towards the establishment of the Mercantile/SAVF Research Fund, which will be used for specific projects earmarked by the South African Veterinary Foundation. Mercantile Bank will be providing two R 10 000 bursaries for Veterinary students, one each in the 4th and 5th years of study. The focus of these bursaries is to assist veterinary students who have a financial need and show interest in the veterinary community as well as the community at large by participating in student initiatives and service. They will also be sponsoring a R 5000 prize for the best student in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery (SAS400) in the fourth year of study. Further to this,

 Mercantile Bank will also be involved in a “Life Planning” File for new graduates where every new graduate in Veterinary Science receives a lever arch file upon graduation in which to keep and file important hard copy versions of pertinent documentation. Mercantile Bank have also partnered with the South African Veterinary Association and are sponsoring their community veterinary clinics initiative which aims to teach responsible pet ownership, establish education systems and create awareness of career opportunities in the veterinary field to disadvantaged communities.
